Iselin Woman Drowns While Visiting Mexico

PROGRESSO, Mexico — Loretta McClure Lightfritz, a passenger on the Caribbean Princess cruise ship who was originally from Iselin, drowned on Thursday while swimming in the ocean during the ship’s stop at Telchac Puerto in Yucatan, Mexico, according to a report from

McClure Lightfritz boarded the ship at 6 a.m. in Houston, Texas with 1,707 passengers, according to the report. As part of the cruise ship’s “Beach Break” package, she and some companions had a picnic at the Reef Yucatán hotel and drowned while bathing in the ocean about 65 feet from the shore, the online newspaper reported.
