WESTFIELD — The Westfield Area Y’s Fun for Fours and More for Fours preschool classes from both Westfield and Cranford preschool locations recently took a joint trip together to Williams Nursery in Westfield and celebrate the beauty of the season.

The children were able to enjoy a hay ride, pick a pumpkin, have a picnic snack and have fun in the hay maze. The participants got to bring back pumpkins and fall paper whites. They counted and sorted pumpkin seeds and are graphing the growth of the paper whites.

The preschoolers’ fall curriculum also included a study of trees. The children learned about the changing colors of leaves, apples that grow on trees and about the animals that live in trees.

The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Visit www.westfieldynj.org to learn more about Westfield Area Y programs. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
