ELIZABETH – Elizabeth Public Schools is holding ONEFEST ‘13, showcasing excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2. The two day event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. tonight with an official opening ceremony in the Thomas Edison Career & Technical Academy Gymnasium.
Friday and Saturday’s events include art and cultural exhibits, as well as performances showcasing storybooks – storynation. In addition, Edison’s Culinary Arts students will be hosting a food sampling event on Friday.
On Saturday, ONEFEST ’13 will include children’s activities and games; sports competitions for children and adults; food vendors; and a talent show. The district will also have a collection site for new and gently used children’s books for distribution in and around the Elizabeth community.
ONEFEST is open to everyone from the Elizabeth Public Schools and the community. All events taking place at Edison Career and Technical Academy, and Williams Field for ONEFEST ‘13 (excluding performances of Mulan at Jefferson Arts Academy) are free Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2.
Williams Field and Edison Career and Technical Academy are located at 625 Summer Street in Elizabeth. Jefferson Arts Academy is located at 27 Martin Luther King Plaza. Street parking is available at all locations. For events taking place on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2, a shuttle service will be available from the parking lot in front of the Dunn Sports Center.
