PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested a Betrand Avenue resident after finding cocaine and more than $12,000 cash in his apartment last week, authorities said.
Members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau executed a superior court search warrant at the residence of Jose Rafael Rojas on Thursday, Oct. 24. They seized approximately 218 grams of cocaine with a street value of approximately $20,000 and $12,458 in U.S. currency, along with various narcotic paraphernalia.
Rojas was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of over five ounces of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school zone.
Judge Emery Z. Toth set bail at $100,000 with no 10% option and with the requirement of a bail source hearing. Detective David Guzman led the investigation.
The charges against Rojas are merely accusations; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
