RAHWAY—The Friends of the Rahway Public Library will hold the second annual Progressive Dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at several restaurants in downtown Rahway. Funds raised will be used to support programs and facilities at the library.
A progressive dinner entails having the successive courses of a meal—appetizers, main dishes, and desserts—at different nearby restaurants. Attendees rendezvous at the first location, mingle, nosh, and then move on to the subsequent course, getting to meet new people while enjoying a range of cuisines and flavors.
This year, the night will begin once again with appetizers at the Cuban fusion restaurant Cubanu (at the corner of Main and Lewis Streets), beginning at 7 p.m.. From there, a one-block walk up to the Rail House will bring diners to the main course. Finally, a short walk back down to Irving Street will help make room for desserts, which are being provided by Flynn’s Irish Pub and Steakhouse. The full meal will take place over a 2 ½ hour period with the individual courses served promptly, which will allow maximum time for participants to sit, socialize, and enjoy the evening.
Tickets ($45/person) will be limited but are available now at the Library’s reference desk, the Rail House, Witty’s Liquors on St. Georges Avenue, or by calling 732-381-6960. Tickets may be purchased in advance until Monday, Nov. 11. If any tickets remain, they can be purchased at the door of Cubanu on the night of the event. Checks should be payable to “The Friends of the Rahway Public Library.” Alcohol is not included in the ticket price but may be purchased at any of the establishments.
RSI Bank and Mr. B Printing, both of Rahway, are supporting sponsors of the event.
