RAHWAY — Roosevelt Elementary School in Rahway held their Sixth Grade Fall Festival on Friday, Oct.18. Sixth graders had the opportunity to take part in an afternoon filled with various fall activities.
First, students were able to choose a pumpkin to their liking. After that, they enjoyed tasty apple cider and apple cider doughnuts. When students finished their refreshments, they took part in three activities. Each activity had an educational focus relating to math, science, and language arts. In the math activity, students had to measure the girth and weight of their pumpkin and estimate the weight of the large pumpkin. The largest pumpkin was awarded to Donye Jones (pictured above), estimating the nearest weight of 32.8 pounds.
The science activity comprised of the life cycle of a pumpkin. Students drew out the process in a booklet that they created. In the language arts activity, students received a pumpkin acrostic in which they had to write adjectives to describe their pumpkins. In all, students were full of smiles and laughter while learning.
