ELIZABETH – This evening, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m., the Elizabeth Board of Education will formally dedicate the district’s newly opened, iPrep Academy School No. 8, located at 221-227 Court Street. The ceremony will be attended by school and district representatives, as well as local, county and state dignitaries.
Interim Superintendent of Schools Olga Hugelmeyer noted, “At Elizabeth Public Schools, we continually strive to offer our students the best education in preparing them for the 21st century workplace. The iPrep Academy School No. 8 offers a means through innovative technology to individualize instruction to better meet the needs of all students.”
The school features 1-to-1 learning, also known as “anywhere, anytime” or “laptops for students” programs. Each of the over 400 students attending School No. 8 receives a laptop or tablet to use during classroom instruction throughout the school day.
The ceremony will feature keynote speaker Joel Rose, CEO and Co-Founder of New Classrooms, an organization that designs innovative personalized learning models for schools.
Elizabeth Board of Education President Tony Monteiro believes, “The educational model being used at School 8 will revolutionize teaching and learning for the students of Elizabeth.”
