EDISON — Police are investigating a two-car crash in which three people were killed this morning on Route 27 in Edison, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas J. Bryan of the Edison Police Department announced.
Police were alerted to the collision near the Stony Road intersection at 12:32 a.m. and arrived to find the three people had been severely injured.
The driver of a 1995 Honda Civic, identified as a 15-year-old Edison boy, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:01 a.m. His name was not released
A preliminary investigation determined that the car driven by the teenager collided with a 2011 Nissan Altima that was driven by Mohammed Zia, 46, of Edison. Mr. Zia was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead at 1:16 a.m.
His passenger, Ali Behzad, 35, of Edison, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:01 a.m.
Autopsies are being performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office, but the results were not immediately available.
