PLAINFIELD — The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Plainfield Police Division are investigating the shooting death of a Plainfield man, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Friday.
Officers responding to a report of a possibly injured person discovered the male victim inside a residence on the 500 block of West Seventh Street in Plainfield shortly before 6 a.m. Friday morning. The victim, a resident of the building later identified as Daniel Gomez, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into this homicide is ongoing, as detectives continue to examine evidence and canvass the area. As of midday Friday no arrests had been made and no motive had been definitively established.
Anyone with information regarding this matter is being urged to contact Homicide Task Force Detective Sofia Santos at 908-577-4256. Tips also may be given anonymously via the Union County Crime Stoppers, as a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a suspect or suspects in the death of Mr. Gomez.
