Trinitas Announces Senior Management Changes

ELIZABETH — Gary S. Horan, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, and the Board of Directors of Trinitas Health and Trinitas Regional Medical Center have announced six changes in the institution’s management and organization. The senior leaders hail from communities throughout Union and Monmouth counties as well as nearby New York state.

“The Boards and I are extremely proud to make these appointments to these well-deserving professionals in health care management,” said Horan recently. “They are among the finest individuals in their respective fields, who, on a daily basis exhibit tireless commitment that furthers the goal of quality patient care and safety at Trinitas.”

Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer

Mary E. McTigue of Scotch Plains has been elevated to the roles of Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, following the recent retirement of Bernadette Countryman as Senior Vice President, Clinical Operations and Chief Nurse Officer. Ms. McTigue, a veteran nurse who served many years at Elizabeth General Medical Center, rose to the level of Associate Director of Nursing, a position she held there from 1992 through 2000. She was then named Director of Nursing at Trinitas in 2000, followed by her most recent post as Vice President of Patient Care Services in 2010. In addition to a nursing diploma from Elizabeth General School of Nursing and an Associate’s degree from Union County College, Ms. McTigue attained a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kean University and a Master’s degree in Delivery of Nursing services from New York University.

Senior Director of Emergency and Ambulatory Services

Maribeth Santillo, who was previously Director of Emergency and Ambulatory Services, rises to level of Senior Director and will assist Mary McTigue. She will also take on the added responsibility for Maternal and Child Health. Ms. Santillo, who lives in Union, has been with Trinitas since 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Bloomfield College and a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Bellevue University in Nebraska.

Vice President of Clinical Operations and Physicians Services and Chief Clinical Officer

Dr. Nancy DiLiegro joined Trinitas in 2002 and in the last decade has consistently risen to expanded management responsibilities.

With her new title, Nancy will take on the additional responsibilities of Perioperative Services and the Ambulatory Surgery Center

which is currently under construction at the Williamson Street Campus of Trinitas and is expected to be open within the next six months. She is a graduate of St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy and two Master’s degrees, one in Pharmacy Administration and one in Public Administration-Health Service Management. Dr. DiLiegro who resides in Manalapan holds a doctorate in Health Administration, is a Certified Healthcare Executive (CHE), and is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).

Senior Director of Community and Clinical Services

Assisting Dr. Nancy DiLiegro will be Joseph McTernan who began with Trinitas in 2012 as the Administrative Director of Renal Services. Mr. McTernan will continue in that role while taking on the added responsibilities of Pre-Hospital Services, Emergency Preparedness, the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, and Community Initiatives and Outreach. In addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management, Joe also holds a Master’s in Business Administration. Mr. McTernan who resides in Orangeburg, New York is currently a Doctoral candidate in Health Services at A.T. Still University.

Vice President of Trinitas Health Foundation/Chief Development Officer

A 1976 graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Elementary Education, Nadine also received a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from Rutgers University in 1981. A resident of Metuchen, Nadine joined Trinitas in 2004 as Executive Director of the Foundation after previous employment with Union County College, Middlesex County College, Mercer County College and the NJ Departments of Education and Higher Education. Nadine will continue her leadership of the Trinitas Health Foundation and Government Relations.

Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations

A graduate of Upsala College with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Doug Harris received his Master’s degree in Healthcare Management from the College of Saint Elizabeth earlier this year. He joined Elizabeth General Medical Center as Assistant Director of Public Relations. He became Director shortly thereafter, and continued in that position following the creation of Trinitas. Mr. Harris, who resides in Rahway, oversees all public relations and marketing activities of Trinitas Regional Medical Center and also has administrative responsibility for the institution’s Volunteer Services Department.
