Annual Senior Health & Fitness Walk Sees Record Turnout

MIDDLESEX COUNTY — More than 500 participants warmed up, danced, attended health screenings and walked around the lake in Roosevelt Park in Edison as part of Middlesex County’s Annual Senior Health and Fitness Walk, held Sept. 25. The walk is co-sponsored by The Middlesex County Office of Aging and Disabled Services and various senior centers throughout the County to celebrate Active Aging Week.

“We were blessed with a beautiful day for this event,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “I am pleased with our County staff and partners, who, with the support of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, showed their dedication to keep our seniors healthy, active and engaged here in Middlesex County.”

Participants, representing senior centers throughout Middlesex County, start off the morning with dancing to stretch and warm up before the walk.

Walkers followed a route around the lake at Roosevelt Park. In addition to physical activities, attendees also enjoyed a complimentary lunch, information booths and health screenings, as well as raffle prizes.
