WOODBRIDGE-I get a quite a bit of feedback from my columns. Although this is not quite of the area, my column seems to evoke memories for others. Here is an email after my July 26, 2013 column:
“Dear Diane, I came across your name and your column while I was doing a search about my family history. You see, my name is Diane Harrison, also, and my father owned Maple View Dairy on Long Island. What a coincidence that you ran an article about Maple Hill Dairy. Like George, who you wrote about in your column, I too have wonderful childhood memories of growing up on my grandparents farm. By the time I came along, however, the animals were gone but the buildings, meadow, orchard, garden and stories remained. My father was a good, honest, hardworking, family man, as I guess George’s dad was too. Thank you for letting me share this little coincidence and my memories, as well.”
Edison-I have done many columns on the “old” Menlo Park Mall. From a reader: “The supermarket in the “old” Menlo Park Mall was Pathmark not Shoprite. It was right across from Arcadian Gardens.”
