Springfield Library Announces October Calendar

SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Public Library has announces its October schedule of programs for adults, which includes a new film series, game nights and several group meetings.

BOOK DISCUSSIONS

Thursday, October 3rd at 7 pm – The (REALLY GOOD!) Book Discussion Group will discuss The Hare with Amber Eyes by Edmund De Waal.

Thursday, October 17th at 10 am – The GREAT BOOKS Discussion Group will discuss Medea by Euripides.

FILMS

Thursday, October 10th at 1 pm and 6:30 or 7:00 pm – The International Film Festival presents the first film in the Fall 2013 series – title to be announced. Funding for the film is made possible in part by the NJ Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, and by the Friends of the Springfield Public Library.

Tuesday, October 15th at 1 pm – The Lunchtime Film Series presents the second film in the “EVEN MORE RECENT HITS!!” series. Funding is made possible in part by the NJ Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, and by the Friends of the Springfield Public Library.

COMPUTER TRAINING

The Library will continue its computer training program on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, by appt. Sign up for an individual half-hour lesson on basic computing skills. Stop by the Reference Desk or call (973) 376-4930 X228.

SCRABBLE AND CHESS

Scrabble night continues – Monday evenings at 7 pm. Bring a friend or meet new opponents. Chess for adults is on Thursday night at 7 pm.

KNITTING GROUP

The KNIT WITS group meets in the Library on the second and fourth Monday of the month at 10 am.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY JEWELRY SALE

Friday, October 18th from 10 am to 4 pm – The Friends of the Springfield Free Public Library will hold another VINTAGE JEWELRY SALE.

MEMOIR GROUP

The Memoir Group meets in the Library on the second and fourth Thursday of the month.
