Perth Amboy Man Charged With Selling Cocaine At Bar

PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested a 61-year-old Perth Amboy man who is accused of selling cocaine at a bar on Amboy Avenue on Friday afternoon.

Members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau went to The Pepino’s Pub, to execute a superior court search warrant for Jorge Roman at 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 20. Police allege that Roman was selling cocaine from the bar.

When they searched Roman, officers found approximately 20 grams of cocaine packaged for individual sale and $1,830 in cash, police said. He was placed under arrest and his residence and two vehicles he owns were also searched.

Roman was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine over a ½ ounce with the intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public housing complex, and within 1000 feet of a school zone. Judge Emery Z. Toth set bail at $100,000 with no 10% option and the requirement of a bail source hearing. Roman was also issued a Drug Offender Restraining Order prohibiting him from returning within 500 feet of the Pepino’s Pub.

The total street value of the drugs seized is approximately $840, according to police. Detective Mabner Terron led the investigation.

The charges against Roman are merely accusations; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
