NEWARK – With Mayor Cory Booker in California for a $1,000-a-plate fundraiser attended by Hollywood stars, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Steve Lonegan will hold his own event at Kings Family Restaurant in Newark.

Dubbed “A Night With The Stars Of New Jersey,” Lonegan’s fundraiser pokes fun at Booker and emphasizes the conservative candidate’s desire to appeal to everyday people. Tickets for Lonegan’s fundraiser start at $20.

Booker is scheduled to return to New Jersey tomorrow after being out of the state for the past week.

Lonegan and Booker  will square off in an Oct. 16 special election to fill the Senate seat that opened when former Sen. Frank Lautenberg died in June.
