WOODBRIDGE-R.A.Bartha found my columns on the Woodbridge Golden Bears and is asking for more information on them from readers.
“Diane, I did some research into The Woodbridge Golden Bears. My Dad played for them. The reason I am writing is that I recall my dad, Louis M. Bartha, telling me how he once played against Art Donovan. I recall him saying this when we were watching Art on the ‘Tonight Show’ with Johnny Carson. My dad was an offensive guard, and was a student athlete at Woodbridge Senior High School. He played football and baseball for Nick Priscoe. He later became a coach and educator at Woodbridge High School. And later, the Athletic Director at John F. Kennedy from the day the high school opened until his death in January 1978.
“I was wondering, are there any pictures of the Woodbridge Golden Bears that may have my dad in them? It would be wonderful to be able to get one somehow.
“I just wanted to write you and thank you for your time and dedication to something that stays close to many people’s hearts.”
If anyone has pictures of the Golden Bears with Mr. Bartha in them or written material with his name, please send to me to pass on and to be used in my column!
