EDISON – Mayor Antonia Ricigliano and the Edison Council will present the Township’s most popular family event, “The 2013 Fall Family Spectacular” on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 1  – 10 p.m., which is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year at Papaianni Park in Edison.

Planned events for this year’s Festival include well known recording artists offering music to suit all tastes, classic cars & motorcycles, strolling performers, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, games of chance, dance groups, athletic contests, and much, much more. The two Main Stages will offer entertainment constantly throughout the day. Of course, the carnival rides, PWS Superstar professional wrestling featuring WWE legend Tito Santana and fireworks grand finale will be the main focus for the event. Again this year will be the BMX Thrill Show “Hell On Wheels” performing three times during the event and new this year will be UAD “Ultimate Air Dogs” flying through air and water throughout the day.

Starting promptly at 1 p.m., celebrants will be entertained by a variety of groups, acts and special attractions, tempted to an array of foods from around the world; and treated to an assortment of craft vendors and exhibitors that will please and interest everyone.

The two main stages at the daylong festival will begin with two local bands, with two different styles. “Rush To Judgement” will hit the Lake Stage at 2 p.m. followed by “The Dumonts” on the Field Stage at 3:15 p.m.

Opening ceremonies will kick off the evening portion of the festival at 4:20 p.m. with Edison Mayor Antonia Ricigliano, special guests and dignitaries.

Local Edison rockers “Farrington Sound” will bring classic rock and roll to the Lake Stage following Opening Ceremonies at 4:45 p.m.

Kicking off the evening portion of the Festival, the highly entertaining, sound alike “EagleMania” will bring you to your feet with all those classic songs at 5:45 p.m. EagleMania covers all the great hits of the Eagles, one of the greatest musical groups of all time. Comprised of veteran and accomplished musicians, this group came together driven by a common love and respect of the Eagles vocal and musical mastery. With a passion for perfection, the men of EagleMania are committed to providing the ultimate Eagles experience for their audience, scrupulously replicating the sounds of one of the greatest musical groups of all time.

This year’s headliner, “Jobonanno and The Godsons of Soul” will hit the Lake Stage at 7:30 p.m. James Brown was known as the Godfather of Soul, so it made sense that Jobonanno and his band, The Godsons of Soul, opened for him in the past. Jobonanno has been fronting Jersey club acts for more than 20 years. This past July, he released a studio album on the Sharkskin record label entitled “Turn Up the Heat”, a collection of 13 original songs.

“This is the pinnacle of everything over the years” he said. While the present group has been together for about 10 years, Jobonanno has been at this for awhile, and actually replaced Bon Jovi as lead singer in one of Bon Jovi’s early bands, “Atlantic City Expressway”. “When Jon left, I was friends with the guys in the band so I auditioned and then took it from there. But it was funny; Jon never really left the band. He would still show up at practices and gigs, and even though I was singing, he would still jump up on stage and do five or six songs a night. It was like “are you in the band or not”.

Immediately following at 9 p.m. will be a fantastic fireworks display that will light up the night over Lake Papaianni and thrill the thousands in attendance.

The Recreation Department welcomes all types of food vendors, craft vendors, exhibitors, classic car owners and performs for the upcoming event.
