ROSELLE PARK — A stabbing victim was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and several other traffic-related offenses.

Roselle Park Patrolman Matthew Hopkins arrested Jorge L. Lema, 26, of Newark after his 1999 Acura stopped in the middle of West Westfield Avenue around 2:08 a.m. on Sept. 15.

Hopkins reported that the car’s interior was covered in blood and Lema appeared intoxicated, with a large open cut on his arm and a smaller injury on his leg.

Lema told police that he was “jumped” in Newark, but authorities had no reports of the incident.

Roselle Park Police Sgt. Theodore Dima said Lema was arrested and taken to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, then returned to Roselle Park police headquarters after he was discharged from the hospital.

The charges are merely accusations and Lema is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
