LINDEN – At its July meeting, the Linden City Council recognized Milena Drozd, Ashley Williams, Manessa Lormejuste and Perle Desir, this year’s winners of awards from the Armstead Scholarship Fund.
Linden 4th Ward Councilman Derek Armstead and city school board member Lisa Ormon founded the fund, which has been helping the ciy’s young people pursue higher education for more than 12 years. Each recipient received a check for $500 to be used towards their college education. Drozd and Lormejuste are attending Rutgers University while Desir and Williams are attending Seton Hall University.
“Thank you very much for your support in furthering my education. Without the aid from yourself and other local organizations, this would not be possible. My gratitude for your kindness cannot truly be expressed through words,” said Drozd.
