CLARK — During the first week of school, the students in Ms. DeFalco’s 6th grade science classes at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark participated in lesson on the importance of teamwork.
In order to prepare the students for all the collaboration and communication that will be taking place in the lab this year, students were asked to work with their lab partner to build the tallest tower they could out of raw spaghetti and marshmallows. Teammates had to brainstorm various ideas, use good communication skills, and implement a plan to successfully build the tallest tower in the class.
Students realized that by working together and helping one another, they could accomplish much more then if they were working alone. Through this activity, students were able to practice critical skills that we will be using in the lab throughout the school year.
