EDISON — Beginning in October 2013, nearly 150,000 uninsured Middlesex County residents will be eligible to apply for health insurance under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare.
People may attend a free informational program to be held at the JFK Medical Center Conference Center, 70 James Street, Edison, on Monday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. to learn more about how this new legislation will impact their family, finances, health insurance coverage or small business.
The presentation, hosted by the Edison Township Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Senior Citizen Services and in partner ship with JFK Medical Center will provide an overview of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, navigating the Healthcare Marketplace and how to enroll in an insurance plan, t enrollment dates and where to go for enrollment assistance, what happens if you choose not to enroll in a health insurance plan, penalties, tax credits, and financial assistance for low income individuals and families as well as the requirements for small business owners.
