FAYETTVILLE, N.C. – A 21-year-old Union woman remained at a local medical center for evaluation Wednesday and was facing charges for allegedly assaulting a North Carolina police officer with a pair of scissors and stealing his police cruiser on Monday, according to a report by the Fayetteville Observer.
A Fayetteville police officer responded to reports of someone carrying a suspicious weapon at 5:20 p.m. on Sept. 2. According to the report, Ayana Kenyatta Taylor, 21, was carrying scissors and a hammer.
Taylor will be charged with assault on a government official with a deadly weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, resist, delay and obstruct a law enforcement officer and various traffic offenses, according to the report.
The charges against Taylor are merely accusations; she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The incident was captured on a cell phone video, which was broadcast by a North Carolina television news station.
