ELIZABETH — The Rotary Club of Elizabeth enjoyed a presentation by Michelle Cholankeril, MD, medical hematologist and oncologist at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, who spoke about the latest in cancer treatment during a recent club meeting at the Garden Restaurant. The City of Elizabeth, close to Michelle’s heart, is the place where she first became interested in medicine. She volunteered at Trinitas while in high school, serving as a clerk at the main information desk. Later, she shadowed her mother (physician Mary Cholankeril) on her rounds at the hospital. After graduating medical school and serving a residency at UMDNJ and North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital, she returned to Trinitas last fall to work full time at the Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center.
