PISCATAWAY -A township man was charged with the murder of his former live-in companion, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Richard Ivone of the Piscataway Police Department announced Tuesday night.
Kevin Scuccimarri, 33, was charged in the death of Sherry Richardson, 39, of Middlesex Borough.
Scuccimarri also was charged with terroristic threats for threatening another individual, whose identity was not released by authorities.
The defendant was charged after police discovered the victim’s body in a creek located near Blueberry Court and Knightsbridge Road in the township at 3:47 p.m. on Sept. 3.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death, but a preliminary investigation has determined that Richardson was the apparent victim of a homicide.
The charges were filed during an investigation by Detective Daniel Kapsch of the Piscataway Police Department and Investigator Adrian Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Bail was set at $1 million for the defendant, who remained in custody Tuesday night.
The investigation is active and continuing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Detective Kapsch of the Piscataway Police Department at (732) 653 7371, or Investigator Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-4428.
As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Scuccimarri are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
