ELIZABETH – Sister Donna Jo Repetti, OSF, Director of Guidance at Benedictine Academy, was named the “Franciscan Sister of the Year” by the Franciscan Sisters of Philadelphia, for her work to help abolish human trafficking. Her congregation consists of many hundreds of Franciscan Sisters across the globe.
Sr. Donna Jo began her human trafficking ministry in 2006, along with students at Benedictine Academy, to educate others about the dangers of this modern day slavery and to work with government officials to protect victims from further injustices.
Sr. Donna Jo was honored by her fellow Sisters while attending the Franciscan Federation Annual Convocation in Pittsburgh over the summer. She has been actively involved in planning anti-Human Trafficking activities at Benedictine Academy, and in bringing those plans to fruition. The all-female Catholic college prep high school has won numerous awards, national state and local, for its work to bring awareness about the issue.
