Senators To Host Service Academy Day For High School Students

NEW BRUNSWICK – U.S. Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Jeff Chiesa (R-NJ) announced they will host a Service Academy Information Day at Rutgers University in New Brunswick on Sunday, Sept. 15.

“Our nation’s military academies are always looking for exceptional young men and women who are seeking to make the most of their potential and use their abilities in the service of our country,” said Menendez. “This special information day will help clarify the application process for students, parents and guidance counselors, as well as provide some details about being educated at one of the service academies. It’s a great opportunity in which I hope many New Jersey students participate.”

“The call to duty is one of the most noble, honorable and proud things someone can do. Attending a service academy is one way to answer that call,” said Chiesa. “I encourage interested young men and women to attend this event and make an informed choice about which academy they would like to apply to and attend.”

Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy will be available to provide information to high school students interested in applying to a service academy. Students’ parents and guidance counselors are also welcome to attend.

The information session will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Rutgers University: Douglass Campus Center, Trayes Hall, 100 George Street, New Brunswick.
