“Join The Huddle” Tour Aims To Build Excitement For Super Bowl

STATE – Only a few people will ever experience winning the Vince Lombardi trophy, but football fans will have a chance to see it as it makes at least four dozen stops in the New Jersey and New York area in the months leading up to the Super Bowl.

The New York/New Jersey Super Bowl Host Committee today announced the launch of its “Join the Huddle” tour, the first-ever mobile tour associated with a Super Bowl, which will bring  a unique game-day experience to fans not able to attend the game itself.

The “Join the Huddle” tour will begin on Wednesday, Sept.  4, when a signature element, the Vince Lombardi Trophy, will be picked up at Tiffany & Co., the world premier jeweler and silversmith whose artisans handcraft the trophy.  The tour will end with an extended stay on “Super Bowl Boulevard,” the massive, unprecedented fan event on Broadway in Manhattan, from Wednesday, Jan. 29 through Saturday, Feb. 1.

An initial list of stops will be released on Sept. 4, with tour stops expected to encompass the five boroughs of New York City, as well as Westchester, Nassau and Orange counties in New York, and Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Ocean and Sussex counties in New Jersey. Additional stops will continue to be announced in the coming weeks.

“We are thrilled to be kicking off the “Join the Huddle” mobile tour, and achieving yet another historic ‘first’ for Super Bowl XLVIII,” said Alfred F. Kelly Jr., president and chief executive officer of the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee. “The tour design is unique to our area, with a tribute to hometown hero Vince Lombardi, and both home teams – the NY Football Giants and the NY Jets – and will bring a touch of the signature Super Bowl excitement to each and every stop it visits.”

Activities will be offered both inside and outside the “Huddle Shuttle” structure. The inside portion will include a replica stadium locker room with NY Jets, NY Giants, Super Bowl, and Vince Lombardi memorabilia, as well as a Vince Lombardi Trophy Room, and a broadcast booth. Stations outside will be highly interactive, designed to resemble traditional combine activities and encourage participants to perform basic football drills, including speed and agility, vertical jumps, and touchdown and a field goal kick plays. The NY/NJ Snowflake Youth Foundation, a newly formed charity of the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee that is raising critical funds to renovate and transform after-school facilities, will be presenting its own station, an accuracy toss challenge.

Participants will also have the ability to interact with digital elements of the tour, including a “You Make the Call” referee simulation and a Touchdown Dance station that can be shared through social media channels. Every fan who attends the “Join the Huddle” tour will receive an RFID technology sweat band that will track activity progress throughout the experience. As fans swipe the sweatband at each station, photos and videos will be saved. Fans will receive a digital player card with personal photos and statistics at the end of the visit.
