Sinbad To Perform At State Theatre

NEW BRUNSWICK — State Theatre will presents family-friendly comedian Sinbad in An Evening with Sinbad on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 7pm. Tickets range from $35-60.

In 1983, Sinbad embarked on his self-sponsored “Poverty Tour” traveling by Greyhound to comedy clubs across the United States, delivering stand-up comedy, working for meals, and changing out of hotel restrooms. He got his first big break on the hit TV show, Star Search. His success there led to a co-starring role on The New Redd Foxx Show in 1986. He eventually caught the eye of Bill Cosby, who cast him in the sitcom, A Different World.

Sinbad’s zany but clean comedy talent and appeal kept him busy throughout the 90s. In 1993, he developed and starred in his own ABC variety show, Sinbad & Friends All the Way Live…Almost. He also took both on-screen and off-screen roles as the star and executive producer of his FOX TV sitcom, The Sinbad Show, as well as his HBO® Summer Jam Weekend specials. The latter subsequently won the NAACP Image Award in the “Most Outstanding Variety Series/Special” category, two years in a row.

Sinbad’s movie credits include Jingle All the Way, Houseguest, First Kid, and Necessary Roughness. His television credits also include The Cosby Show, The Sinbad Show, and more recently, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
