Film Festival Wraps Up With “A Simple Life”

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Free Public Library’s Summer International Film Festival concludes on Thursday, Aug.15.

The library will screen A Simple Life (2011) at 1 and 6:45 p.m. After suffering a stroke, an altruistic maid announces that she wants to quit her job and move into an old people’s home. Directed by Ann Hui. Starring Andy Lau, Deannie Yip, Lawrence Ah Mon and Angela Baby. Hong Kong. In Cantonese with English subtitles. 118 minutes. Not rated.

Funding for the film program has been made possible in part by the NJ State Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs and by the Friends of the Springfield Free Public Library.
