NEW YORK — An Arab media network recently purchased Current TV and is in the process of creating of Al Jazeera America, a new U.S.-based news channel that will provide both domestic and international coverage for American audiences.
Al Jazeera is fostering a reputation for clear journalism and objectivity that has been missing from many domestic American television reporting outlets, including the overtly Republican Fox News Channel and the liberal leaning MSNBC.
When Al Jazeera America launches on Aug. 20, Al Jazeera English will no longer be available on TV or as an online stream in the U.S.
Al Jazeera America will be available on:
- 4DTV Channel W5261
- Comcast Channel 107
- DIRECTV Channel 358
- DISH Network Channel 215
- Verizon FiOS Channel 114
Cablevision and Time Warner Cable will not carry the channel at launch.
