STATE – Republican Gov. Chris Christie and Democratic Newark Mayor and Senate candidate Cory Booker – two of New Jersey’s best-known political figures on the national stage, both received support from nearly five dozen wealthy donors, according to a Star-Ledger report.
The shared donors include a number of Silicon Valley’s elite, Wall Street’s wealthy, prominent real estate brokers and land developers.
The group, which includes Republican billionaire Kenneth Langone who encouraged Christie to run against President Barack Obama in last year’s election, has actually donated more money to Booker – $300,550 to Christie’s $212,000.
Booker faces three Democratic opponents – Congressmen Rush Holt and Frank Pallone, and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver – in tomorrow’s special election Senate primary.
Christie is being challenged by Democrat Barbara Buono in November’s gubernatorial election.
