HAMMONTON – More than 100 members of the National Guard are preparing to leave for Afghanistan when the 150th Engineer Company begins a nine-month deployment Monday.
The citizen soldiers will prepare areas of the country for return to Afghan control, deconstructing U.S. military bases and building infrastructure, according to a New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs spokesperson.
The unit is made up of soldiers from 19 of New Jersey’s 21 counties.
