Consultants To Discuss NEC Futures Project At Aug. 12 Rail Coalition Meeting

SOMERVILLE – Elected officials, transportation professionals and the public are invited to the next meeting of the Raritan Valley Rail Coalition on Monday, Aug. 12.

The featured speakers will be AECOM Vice President and Senior Project Manager Ruby Siegel and Dan Baer of Parsons Brinckerhoff. They represent the joint venture consultant team supporting the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). They will discuss the work on the FRA’s NEC Futures Program and how it dovetails with the Amtrak Gateway Tunnel project and proposed one-seat ride into Penn Station New York.

Also, Rail Coalition trustees will provide an update on the Coalition’s One Seat Ride Campaign, including supporting municipal resolutions, results from recent meetings in Westfield and Cranford and ongoing outreach activities.

The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the third-floor freeholders’ meeting room of the Somerset County Administration Building; the mapping address is 20 Grove St., Somerville, NJ 08876. Free parking is available in the Bernie Field parking deck adjacent to the administration building; the entrance is off East High Street.
