IBI Allows Employers To Host Free MS Office Suite Workshops

CRANFORD – Just ask your staff how they acquired their knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Windows and most likely they will admit to being self-taught. Growing these skills with hands-on training has proven valuable to the thousands of workers and managers who have taken advantage of free workshops offered by the Industry-Business Institute at Union County College.

A mobile computer lab allows the Industry-Business Institute to bring workshops in MS Office applications to your place of business. A minimum of ten participants who are employed for 20 hours per week or more is required. IBI encourages business owners to host these workshops for their own employees and/or invite business partners, clients, vendors and suppliers to send their staffs to form the minimum class size.

“These skills are valuable to all employees,” says Lisa Hiscano, Director of the Industry-Business Institute. “This grant funded program gives us the option to form consortium classes for groups of small to mid-sized companies who do not meet the 10 employee minimum. Local chambers of commerce, industry associations and neighborhood business associations have used this program with great results.”

IBI offers these classes on an open enrollment basis at their campuses in Cranford and Elizabeth, also at no charge. To attend, you must be employed a minimum of 20 hours per week and your employer must complete registration for any employees to attend. Registration information is available at www.ucc.edu/go/ibi. This opportunity is made possible through the New Jersey Business and Industry Association and a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
