CLARK — At the Aug. 6, Board of Education Meeting, the Clark Board of Education approved the hiring of nine new staff members along with a new content area supervisor. Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Knops dedicated his Superintendent’s Report to introducing and highlighting the credentials of each newly hired staff member to the Board of Education and to all meeting attendees.
Yuri Diaz, a six year Spanish teacher at the high school, is the new content area supervisor for Language Arts and Humanities. She received her bachelor of arts degree in Latin America civilization and culture studies from Rutgers University and subsequently received two masters degrees, one in foreign language education and one in educational administration, from Rutgers University. She leaves the classroom to begin her new assignment as grades 6-12 content area supervisor of language arts and the humanities.
After this the next staff member introduced was Nicole Arpino, who had filled in a year-long maternity leave as school psychologist for the elementary schools. With the resignation of a school psychologist, she was hired as a full time, tenure track psychologist for the child study team.
Also hired by the Board of Education and introduced by Knops were new Valley Road School kindergarten teacher Kim Belverio, Frank K. Hehnly School third grade teacher Ashley Guarino, Valley Road School fifth grade teachers Kelly Williamson and Bryan Lowe, Frank K. Hehnly music teacher Meghan Bowers, Frank K. Hehnly School special education teacher Nina Sincropi, Carl H. Kumpf School science teacher Danielle DeFalco, and Arthur L. Johnson High School teacher Loredana Skirde.
Knops said, “We are delighted with the quality of our new staff members and look forward to their contributions in their respective positions. We held a rigorous interview schedule, interviewing as many as 60 candidates for our elementary positions, we have hired outstanding staff members who will continue our educational mission to provide Clark students with a cutting edge education.”
