GARWOOD — Local Democrats are hustling to raise funds during the summer season, with a celebration of America’s pastime suitable for the whole family and a trip to the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for gambling grown ups.
The Garwood Democratic Club has reserved a group of tickets for the Saturday, Aug. 17 baseball game at TD Ballpark in Somerset, where the Somerset Patriots will defend against the visiting Sugarland Skeeters. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
Baseball is an outing for all ages, with fireworks after the game. Tickets are $13 per person and can be obtained by calling Sara Todisco at 908-377-7890. Transportation to the ballpark is not included for this event. The Somerset Patriots website has exact directions and mass transit details.
The Saturday, Sept. 21 bus trip to the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, not only offers casino gaming, but great restaurants and an outlet shopping mall as well.
A bus will leave from West Street between Willow Avenue and South Avenue at 10 a.m. sharp, with a planned return to Garwood at approximately 8 p.m. Each ticket is $30, but attendees get $20 in coins slot play, along with a $5 food voucher.
