An autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim had been fatally stabbed.

He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Acting Prosecutor Carey commended police for their quick work in tracking and arresting the suspect.
The investigation is active and continuing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Detective Weiss of the New Brunswick Police Department at (732) 745-5217, or Investigator Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (723) 745-3300.
As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charge filed against Lopez is merely an accusation and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
