PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested a 22-year-old city man who allegedly discarded a plastic bag containing 258 decks of heroin in the area of of First and Gordon streets on Wednesday, July 24.
Members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau and Detective Bureau observed Gregory Gosha Jr., who was the target of a narcotic investigation according to police, walking in the area of First Street and Gordon Street. When the detectives approached him, he ran through a residential area and allegedly threw away the bag of heroin that was recovered by the pursuing detectives. Gosha was quickly apprehended behind a residential area on First Street.
A Superior Court Search Warrant was then executed at his State Street residence, where police recovered an additional five decks of heroin. His girlfriend, Jeaneen Jones, 22, who also lives at the State Street residence, was taken into custody and police recovered 49 decks of heroin following a search of her 2007 Toyota Yaris.
Gosha was charged with possession of heroin, possession with the intent to distribute over a half ounce of heroin, possession with the intent to distribute heroin within 1,000 feet of a school zone, conspiracy to distribute heroin, and obstruction of justice. Judge Maria Del Valle-Koch set bail at $75,000.00 with no 10 percent option and required a bail source hearing.
Jones was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, and conspiracy to distribute heroin. Del Valle-Koch set bail at $25,000 with no 10 percent option.
The total street value of the drugs seized is approximately $3,000. Detective Mabner Terron led the investigation.
The charges against the suspects are merely accusations. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
