METUCHEN – New Jersey Republican Congressman Jon Runyan endorsed Steve Lonegan in the U.S. Senate race in New Jersey today, demonstrating the great enthusiasm for the former Bogota mayor’s candidacy.
Runyan said, “We need more people in Washington who are willing to talk straight with the American people and tackle the very serious economic and fiscal problems facing the country, instead of sweeping them under the rug. I am confident that Mayor Lonegan would do just that as Senator and that’s why I am endorsing him today.”
“It is a great honor to be endorsed by Congressman Runyan,” Lonegan said. “He has been a fighter for the people of New Jersey and I look forward to working with him to lower taxes, cut spending, and reduce the size of government.”
Over the past couple of weeks, Lonegan has been traveling throughout New Jersey and picking up endorsements along the way. Republican Congressmen Frank LoBiondo (NJ-2), Scott Garrett (NJ-5), Leonard Lance (NJ-07), and Rodney Frelinghuysen (NJ-11) have previously endorsed Lonegan.
