BELLE MEAD — Special Olympics New Jersey will host the first ever Special Olympics Baseball game on Saturday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at McKnight Complex in Belle Mead. The pre-game ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. It will be the first time that Special Olympics will be offering the sport of baseball.
Teams will also compete in future games on July 27 and Aug. 3. All games are open to the public and free. Baseball will be a demonstration sport at the 2014 National Games.
Special Olympics New Jersey has been working towards establishing baseball as sport over the past year. Athletes and coaches have had the opportunity to attend a number of clinics and events to progress towards offering competitive gameplay.
