ELIZABETH – Caleb McGillivary, the suspect in the May 12 killing of Clark lawyer Joseph Galfy, was hospitalized yesterday for treatment of self-inflicted wounds, according to an NJ.com report.
In a brief statement, county spokesperson Sebastian D’Elia said, “Shortly after 5:10 a.m. [Wednesday], Caleb McGillivary was transported from the Union County jail to an area hospital with self-inflicted, non-life threatening injuries.”
McGillivary achieved internet notoriety as “Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker” in February thanks to a YouTube video interview after he intervened with a hatchet in an apparently unprovoked attack on a California utility worker.
He has pleaded “not guilty” to the murder charge.
