Authorities Investigating Fatal Shooting Of Plainfield Man

PLAINFIELD — The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Plainfield Police Division are investigating the shooting death of a 31-year-old city resident that occurred earlier today, Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced.

Police were called to the 100 block of Waynewood Park around 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16. When they arrived they discovered Santiago Ordonez behind a house, suffering from a gun shot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Currently, investigators are processing the crime scene, examining evidence and potential leads, authorities said. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and investigators are urging anyone with information to call Union County Crimestoppers.
