Police Investigating Death Of 19-Year-Old New Brunswick Man

NEW BRUNSWICK — Police are actively investigating the death of a 19-year-old New Brunswick man, who was the apparent victim of a fatal shooting, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Anthony A. Caputo, director of the New Brunswick Police Department, announced Sunday afternoon.

Eduardo Mendez was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick at 8:49 p.m. on Saturday, July 13.

The results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available yesterday.

The investigation began when police were dispatched to Talmadge Street in New Brunswick at 8:11 p.m. on July 13, and found the victim outside a house on the 200-block.

The investigation by Detective Brandt Gregus of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Scott Crocco of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is active and continuing, but no arrests had been made made at the time of Sunday’s announcement.
