Woodbridge Police Break Up Alleged Prostitution Ring

AVENEL – Police arrested four people at an Avenel hotel late Wednesday night and a fifth at his girlfriend’s home in Scotch Plains Thursday morning who were allegedly involved with a prostitution ring, according to an NJ.com report.

Ronnie Warren, 28, of Cliffwood, and Joel Hope, 31, of Scotch Plains were charged with kidnapping and promoting prostitution. Carrie Schiefer, 23, is charged with promoting prostitution, possession of heroin and possession of heroin with the intent to distribute. Willie Peters, 19, is charged with hindering apprehension, contempt of court and wrongful impersonation. Samantha Garcia, 20 is charged with hindering apprehension and marijuana possession. All three are residents of West Keansburg.

The arrests are the result of a multi-month investigation by Woodbridge and Matawan police, according to the report.

The charges against the suspects are merely accusations; they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
