UNION COUNTY — Jackie Gura of Warren has shared her time with The Arc of Union for the past two years out of a desire to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities like her sister, Kristy, who has Down Syndrome. When Kristy was younger she received services from The Arc. Wanting to give back, Jackie decided to offer her time and support to the organization that had a positive impact on her sister.

Over the past two years Jackie has helped in the main office with a number of different projects, and has given her time to help run two of The Arc of Union County’s major fundraising events: the annual Wine & Cheese Tasting and the annual Tricky Tray. Jackie’s favorite experience so far was helping with the Wine & Cheese Tasting. She recently shared, “It is great to be a part of an event where everyone is working together like a close-knit family.”

When Jackie isn’t volunteering at The Arc, she enjoys playing basketball and spending time with her friends. In the fall Jackie will head off to college and with a passion for helping others, plans to major in Global Affairs and Social Sciences. As time allows, she also plans to become involved with The Special Olympics.
