PLAINFIELD – Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze that destroyed a warehouse on West Front Street Thursday afternoon, according to a MyCentralJersey.com report.
Smoke and flames from the fire extended to vegetation behind the building, nearly reaching NJ Transit rail tracks and subjecting Raritan Valley Line passengers to delays as trains were slowed when they passed through the area.
An inoperable fire hydrant hampered firefighters’ efforts to respond to the blaze, according to the report.
