LINDEN – Former municipal Judge Louis DiLeo is suing the city of Linden and Mayor Richard Gerbounka, alleging that he was “wrongfully and improperly terminated,” according to an NJ.com report.

DiLeo was replaced last year after a state judicial panel found that he violated the judicial code of conduct by denying two men legal representation and allowing a police officer to cross-examine them in a criminal case. He had served as Linden’s top judge for almost nine years and been the city’s municipal prosecutor before that.

According to the NJ.com report, DiLeo’s lawsuit alleges that Gerbounka conspired to replace him after the judge declined the mayor’s request to void a traffic ticket issued to an unidentified city resident.
