Former Clark Democratic Leader Passes Away

CLARK – Former Clark Democratic Committee chairman Carmine “Red” Giordano died Sunday, July 7, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway. He was 79.

Giordano was the chair of the township’s Democratic Party for 20 years. He served on the Clark Planning Board for four years and was director of Clark Public Works for eight years. He was also actively involved in Clark Girls’ Softball as a coach for eight years.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11 at St. Agnes Church in Clark, followed by internment at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, with full military honors. Visitation is scheduled for 4-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue.

Giordano is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marlene, two daughters, a granddaughter, a sister and a brother.
