SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Middlesex County students entering 5th through 8th grades may attend a summer day program at the county’s Extension office called “Eco- Adventures at the EARTH Center.” The program will be held Aug. 26 through 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, South Brunswick.
The program focuses on environmental stewardship and will have a different theme for each day including Resource Conservation or Addressing Climate Change. Most days will begin with a team-building exercise to help students get acquainted. Hands-on activities will explore topics like ecology, water conservation and issues such as alternative energy, earth-friendly gardening, and climate change.
Wednesday will feature a field trip.. During the end of the week, students will write and video public service announcements related to conservation of the environment. Arrangements can be made for kids with special needs
The registration fee of $110 includes program materials, a peanut free snack, beverages, and a parting gift. Attendees are expected to bring their own brown bag lunch. The registration deadline for Eco-Adventures at the EARTH Center is Aug. 1.
