Perth Amboy Man Charged In Robbery

PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested a 44-year-old city man who allegedly put a man in a chokehold and stole his wallet last month.

Police were called to the 200 block of Goodwin Street at 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, to investigate a reported robbery.Willie Riggins was allegedly grabbed his victim from behind and placed the man in a chokehold before demanding the victim’s wallet. The victim resisted and stabbed at the suspect with his house keys, but the robber got away with his wallet and cell phone.

Following a police investigation, Riggins was arrested at the Hess Gas Station on Smith Street.

The charges against Riggins are merely accusations; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
